Lovina Borgohain, the Indian boxer and two time medal winning boxing champion was tested positive for novel corona virus. She was tested positive on the way to attend a 52 days training program in Europe, Italy for Indian boxers.
This Europe tour was organized by The Sports Authority of India (SAI). Totally 16 Indian Boxers are allotted to go for this Europe training from October to November.
Two champion boxers (MC Mary Kom and Manish Kaushik) didn’t take the journey due to illness and injury reasons. Later Lovlina missed her flight due to the positive result of COVID-19.
In her 11 days leave she went to her home town Assam to visit her ill mother. Later she turned to the training journey and made a corona test in Assam and it results negative. So she continues her travel to Delhi to catch the Europe flight but during the next corona test she tested positive.
SAI statement says that “The two times medal winning world champion and Olympic quota winner Lovlina Borgohai was resulted positive for COVID-19”.
This Indian boxer was isolated according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and was taking care by good medical treatments. The other Indian boxers who will reach Italy will have training for 52 days and later they will participate in two competitions in France and Poland.
