After an investigation the Italian Cyclist Riccardo Ricco was banned from cycling due to anti-doping. He was already in a banned period of 12 years.

The 37 aged player was suffered from serious illness in 2011 later it was informed as blood transfusion.
The Italian Anti-doping organization Nado Italia orders a life time ban after the inquiry in 2015 for getting drugs based on the news in Italian Newspaper Corriere della Sera.

Ricco won three Giro d’Italia title and in 2008 he become the runner up. For the illegal action of taking blood booster CERA in the 2008 Tour de France, the former Vacansoleil rider receives a two year ban.
During the competitions the cyclists used to transfuse blood to raise the content of red blood cells which cures the body very soon.
In 2013 Lance Armstrong was allowed for blood doping, he was also used EPO during his seven Tour de France victories. Only few riders including Ricco and Armstrong receive a life time ban from sport. After his admission, UCI the world governing body of cycling announces the ban of Armstrong.
